Hey all,

In checking my blog recently, I've found that over 600 of you have visited this site. All I can say is thanks, I have fun knowing that there are actually people who read my random ramblings. A (beautiful) advisor of mine told me I should consider asking you all to mail me a dollar bill if you read my site, but I think I'm going to hold off on that until I'm really broke, a.k.a. the end of June.

NCAA's went 'swimmingly', to borrow a pun. I finished my career as a 3 time NCAA All-American by taking 6th place in the 200 and 400 medley relays and 10th place in my 100 yd. backstroke. All were personal best times. My 200 yd. backstroke went well (1:54.04), but not quite well enough to get to finals. Honestly, this was a dream come true. I'd come to Denison with the expectation of getting more than 3, but considering the set backs that I've had, I'm darn happy with what I've got.

This week looks to be rough: 10 page research paper on Jane Austen and her thematic treatment of beauty as well as a 5 page philosophy paper about morals. Fun stuff all around. In the BIG plus category, my girl is on her spring break and is coming to visit this Wednesday. Also, once all this work is done, I look to be pretty much set for the rest of the year.

Also, my Dad sold the silver car. If you know what this means, email me with your thoughts. For those of you who don't know, it's something from way back in my Solon days.

I guess I haven't posted this, but it's been decided for a while. The program that I applied to for teaching in Japan has kind of gone belly-up this year, citing a complete lack of funding on the Japanese side of things. Looks like I need a job or something else to do for next year. If you have any inkling of what I can do, please let me know.

This is an interesting finding, though totally predictable. It has always been that the best authors are never the most widely read.

What should we do about this? Start a cultural revolution? Evaluate things based upon their 'true' value? Discourage celebrities who act like idiots? Or maybe we should all just accept our fate and sing along.

Who knows? Not me, I never lost control....

Just for kicks or self-glorification, some idiot right-winger wrote into the campus rant/forum, The Bullsheet, a few days ago about Gibson's movie The Passion of Christ. Honestly, who would ever take the Bullsheet as a serious place to discuss religion?

The only people I dislike less than right-wing religious types are left-wing atheists. When it boils down to it, a true atheist can only say "I believe that nothing is greater than this", and man, that's weak sauce. Honestly, how convincing is an arguement that derives its ligetimatcy from a pedigree which claims that there are no larger universalities?

Atheists suck, though I sympathize with agnostics.
